Black Box Review
Aprašymas: A young and talented black box analyst embarks on a mission to find the cause of a deadly new plane crash. But when the case is closed by the authorities, he can’t shake the feeling that something still remains unsolved.
Okay… from the very first moments, the movie puts you on a very tight rope and doesn’t let go until the end. Camera work, visual effects, music, everything just „sticks together”. And what was surprising was that many of the actors do a very good job, especially when it comes to delivering moments of stress or tension. In several scenes, I caught myself just tightening my „buttocks” because the tension was perfectly constructed for what the creators were aiming for. I have to admit, I would love to see more movies with this lead actor, because the guy is a true professional. Overall, this movie doesn’t waste your time, all the characters it shows you have a reason to be there and the ending wraps things up very nicely. Although everything is constructed in such a way that until the last moment I argued with myself „how will everything end here under a thunderstorm”.
The first thing I learned about this movie is that it will be about audio recordings, so I had high hopes that the sound effects and mixing would be good. And wow, here is one of the most impressively constructed audio stories. From simple little gadgets like using normal software to super processed scenes, when listening with headphones you yourself start to analyze every bit you hear. There is really a lot of focus on presenting the sound and the process of analyzing it. And if you are also interested in aviation, here will be a perfect combination.
I’ll be honest, I have very little to cling to, almost every aspect needed for a story like this was done perfectly. Maybe I would hang on to the time, several scenes could be shortened, but even that is a rather debatable matter. Due to budgetary reasons, there are no actual catastrophes or big action scenes, but what is there is enough to get the general picture.
Overall – 9/10
