Description: Trečiadienė Adams' school year at Nevermore Academy is steeped in a terrifying and supernatural mystery. At the academy, Trečiadienė will try to master her nascent psychic powers, solve the mystery of the murders that are plaguing the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that her parents were entangled in 25 years ago.
Tim Burton's style does not disappoint. The music, the costumes, the camera angles, the locations themselves, everything has a rich gothic feel to it, but not so much that it feels overdone. And while I could say the show has its own unique style, it still feels like it's set in the Addams Family universe. The characters are fun, quirky, sometimes silly, but that's what I've come to expect from a Wednesday Adventure series. All the actors do a near-perfect job of adding their charm to this story, but it's the famous lead actress, Jenna Ortega, who deserves the biggest laurels.
I already miss well-constructed mysteries and detective stories. Wednesday is a great example of this type. Each episode here reveals something while asking new questions. Almost all the twists and turns of the story are perfectly prepared and constructed, when you don't feel that the series was hiding something from you. I think you won't even expect many answers, and some characters will show completely different colors than you might think from the first episode. Don't expect some kind of DARK twisted mystery where your nose bleeds just trying to understand what's going on. Everything is simpler, but that is enough.
Wednesday sometimes reminds me a little too much of Harry Potter. Not only in some sport unique to this school, but also in the way everything looks. The school itself, uniforms, classification of students, strange and specific teachers. It does take a little away from the uniqueness of this series, but only a very small part. Some of the episodes can also feel oddly spaced out, like the story occasionally stops and starts all over again. But as a first for the season, this pancake is perfectly cooked.Overall - 9/10
