Description: The film tells the story of Nicolas Angel, a dedicated policeman who loves his job very much. It is precisely because he has arrested more criminals than other city officials that he is sent to a town where crime is extremely rare. The police in this town are very relaxed and attribute all the murders to accidents, but Nikolas realizes that there is a killer working here, and then a group of killers.
I really like stories that build up to an explosive finale. But often the beginning is boring and stupidly laid out, so no matter how good the ending is, you just don't get it. Yes, this movie starts off slow, but the fast cutting and stylistic presentation keeps you from falling asleep and keeps the good energy going. And the ending is really ripped and firing on all cylinders, probably one of the most stuck climaxes just because of its weirdness. There may not be Transformers-level explosions or special effects, but all the characters are so cute and weird that you just enjoy the unstoppable mayhem. If Shaun of The Dead was the near perfect zombie movie, this is the near perfect action movie.
I don't know how to explain it, but a lot of Edgar Wright's stories just STICK to me. Their humor is not very fast, I wouldn't even call it a "belly laugh", but everything is presented so correctly and strangely that you can't help but laugh at this jumble of various ideas. One of the best aspects of it all is the characters themselves, many of them are very pompous and caricature-like, others feel so human that you can't help but sympathize with them or root for them in all their strange situations. Overall, this movie is made up of a lot of fun ideas and the main story takes a back seat.
The film leans quite heavily on drier British humor and can feel a bit sluggish in places, well until the finale is reached. Also, the humor is somewhat forgotten at the end and the action takes center stage, very good action, but it makes the story feel like it's split in two. Overall, I don't have any major complaints about this movie either, in my opinion, the movie does what it wanted to, and I can guarantee you will have a fun evening if you're not afraid of a slow start...Overall - 9/10
